When you have found the home of your dreams and are in the midst of purchasing it, be prepared to provide a ton of documentation to the mortgage person. And just when you think you're done, they will ask you for more. Lenders are not taking home loans lightly anymore. They want to make sure they cover all bases when it comes to providing assurance to them that you will be able to pay your loan back to them. If they find one little piece in your past that will make them think otherwise, they may turn you down. You can't hide anything; they will find it. Trust me. Its best to be up front right away about issues or concerns about your financial past. It will save you a lot of grief & stress in the long run.
